OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean PLATINUM

By TLex Here’s another World Premiere from Omega, a diamond-set ceramic and Sapphire crystal, Seamaster Planet Ocean in solid Platinum. The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Platinum utilizes a complex technology that allows diamonds to be set into even the toughest of materials such as cceramic or Sapphire crystal.

The process begins by engraving the ceramic or Sapphire crystal with a specialized 5-axis laser that ensures the precision and the shape of each cavity. An exclusive 850-platinum Liquidmetal® alloy is then used to fill each of the openings, the excess is then removed before polishing. Finally diamonds are set into a Pt850 Liquidmetal® alloy using a traditional diamond-setting technique.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean boasts a 43.5mm combination brushed and polished 950-grade Platinum crafted case with a bi-directional 24hr GMT rotational bezel. The beveled edges of the case are fully paved with 69 trapezoidal baguette-cut diamonds; the polished black ceramic bezel is accentuated by twelve trapezoidal baguettes in the GMT scale and a full-cut diamond in the triangle at 24 o'clock. Together with the 31-full-cut-diamond-set Omega logo on the sapphire caseback, the watch has 113 diamonds with a combined weight 2.69 carats.

Below an anti-reflective treated, domed Sapphire crystal is a polished black ceramic dial with 18K white gold markers, numerals and hands. An OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 8615 with a Si14 silicon balance spring, powers the watch. It features a GMT complication that allows the wearer to keep track of the time in a 2nd time zone.

The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Platinum is water resistant to 600m / 2000 feet / 60 bar. It is presented on an integrated black leather strap with platinum stitching and a 950-grade Platinum foldover clasp. It comes with an additional black rubber divers strap along with a strap changing tools. It has been produced in an initial Limited Edition of just eight pieces.

  1. Diamonds... how to turn a good watch into a gaudy piece of ostentatious jewelry :(
